About PACrat

Putting a face to the money

Too often we hear that organizations or wealthy individuals have an outsized influence on the leaders of our country. PACrat was established to help put a face to all of that money: every dollar that moves an election, shown with the filing it came from, so anyone can see who is behind it.

Where PACrat came from...

Thomas Szczygielski and David Kloiber built the site in the summer of 2026. After David's unsuccessful run for Congress, the two sat down hoping to make it easier for the public to get information about the money that moves elections.

Thomas Szczygielski

An attorney with a computer science background, Tom has built the engine underneath the site. From the walkers that collect the data to the receipts being kept, it is his vision that makes sure every number we present is accurate and verifiable.

David Kloiber

David ran for Congress in Kentucky's Sixth District in 2026 and brought his experience from that campaign to guide this project forward. His drive to make public information more easily accessible has shaped how every piece of data is presented on this site.

Reginald

Reginald has filled his pack to the brim and is ready to share his treasures with the world. He carries the name and the title of PACrat, and is the reason we have a place where all the money in politics can be presented in a way that makes it easy to parse.

...and where it's going

PACrat is committed to providing a permanent record of all the money in politics. From campaign finance to outside dark money, it is our intention to record every dollar that influences our local, state and federal governance.

Every dollar

Whether it is through donations, outside money, dark donors, lobbyists or the companies behind PACs and committees, we are committed to tracking every dollar.

Every level

Federal and state offices, and the local offices beneath them, will always be read with the same rules. That way a dollar is counted the same way wherever it lands.

Forever

A filed record is kept exactly as the government published it, forever. Nothing here is edited or removed on request.

The record so far

  • 291.1M contributions listed one by one
  • 55k candidates
  • 90k committees
  • 24 cycles

Corrections and contact

Errors come in two kinds, and we answer every message about either.

If we rendered a filing wrong

That is our bug. Send the page you were on and what looks wrong. We fix it and add a test so it stays fixed.

If the filing itself is wrong

The filed record stays as filed, so the site can always be checked against the government original. If you find something off, let us know. We regularly send error reports to the public registries that publish them.

Takedowns and corrections

Every name and amount here comes from a public filing, and we do not remove or edit a filed record on request. We fix our own mistakes, note beside a record when it has been amended, and take down anything we published that did not come from a public filing.
